Monotypes

The monotype is not a reproduction, but a unique work of art (mono meaning one). Unlike mezzotints, which can be editioned, monotypes are unique paintings created on a plexiglas, glass or metal plate which are transferred onto paper by means of a press. This is the most painterly method among printmaking techniques. Its beauty is its spontaneity, its brilliant color, and its combination of printmaking, painting and drawing mediums.
